Is designed to be a young person’s introduction to the sport of Softball. The program emphasizes FUN, ACTION, and a POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE with a gradual introduction to non-stressful competition. The goal is to improve every player’s self confidence and practice the skills necessary to successfully take part in the (adult) game of Softball in later years. Sessions are 1 hour in length, twice per week from mid April ending in June.
U9 (8 to 9 years old, mixed gender)
Pitching machine is used although a tee is used after 5 pitches
no score keeping, no stealing, parents/ coaches umpire
U11 (10 to 11 years, gender separated)
players pitch, score keeping, stealing is allowed in mid-season
parents/ coaches umpire.
U13 (12 to 13 years old, gender separated)
players pitch, score keeping, stealing is allowed
umpires available.
U15, U17, U20 (14 to 20 years old, gender separated)
players pitch, score keeping, stealing is allowed
umpires available.
The Season
March Teams are formed. Coaches will contact their players, set up practice times & distribute uniforms.
April Ice Breaker Season Opener Tournament (all teams play) and team pictures.
April to June Regular season games commence in April and continue through to the first weekend in June. Regular season play consists of approximately 2 games each week:
Games are generally held in the evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
June Final tournament. The winner and runner-up for each division play in the district tournament. Provincial Tournaments may follow.
